Located 30 miles northwest of the Loop, Inverness is a village of bedrooms, not businesses. Think Barrington Hills without Barrington. Until recently, this quiet, affluent village in Cook County adhered to its original 1-acre minimum, so its 7,400+ residents have plenty of elbow room and privacy. Its newer neighborhoods are denser but retain the country estate atmosphere. Inverness' rolling hills, ponds, mature trees and golf course are reminiscent of its Scottish namesake, right down to the plaid pillows on the sofas in Village Hall.
